Poetry Experience

I'm not really a poetry fan, well learning about it anyway. I do like to read it every once in a while. I love reading the Shell Silverstine books they are my absolute favorite ones. I think the best experience I've had with poetry would be reading the little kid fun poems, or the really deep meaning full ones. My all time favorite poem would have to
  The Googies are Coming by Shel Silverstein in Where the Sidewalk Ends

The googies are coming, the old people say,
To buy little children and take them away.
Fifty cents for lean ones,
Fifteen cents for dirty ones,
Thirty cents for clean ones,
A nickel each for mean ones.

The googies are coming, and maybe tonight,
To buy little children and lock them up tight.
Eighty cents for husky ones,
Quarter for the weak ones,
Penny each for noisy ones,
A dollar for the meek ones.

Forty cents for happy ones,
Eleven cents for sad ones.
And, kiddies,when they come to buy,
It won’t do any good to cry.
But—just between yourselves and I—
They never buy the bad ones!

 

 i love it because its humerous, fun to read and people of all ages love it. I think it impacted my life because it keeps me having fun.

The conclusion

    To reflect on this whole year long blog I would have to thank Mrs. Gilman for always being there when i have questions and helping me through every assignment even when she got frustrated, through writing all these blogs I think in a way it has helped me to like writing a little bit more, all though it is my worst subject and my least favorite, this assignment has helped me to see the fun in writing, and that it doesn't have to all be about work. I think the most fun blogs were the ones that we got to put in a little story about our self, these not only help us understand what we are comparing our life to, it helps Mrs.Gilman and our classmates get to know us a little better by reading them and maybe they can relate with their story and you would have never known you had something in common.  I don't think writing these blogs has necessarily made me a better writer but it's made it more fun and a lot easier as well. When I look back at all of my blogs throughout the year I have found that I can relate something from my home life in every one, I think when we write about our home life, or past it makes writing so much more meaningful and easier to do because when you write about you, or your life, nobody can tell it better than you can.
   Over the year I sorta lost track along the way and thinking that i could just breeze through school, well I thought wrong, I've missed a lot of blogs even though I try to make them up I should have gotten them done an had them on time in the first place. I find that this year was actually really challenging for me because I've always been a very organized person and always on top of things making sure they're done, but my worries get the best of me, home life gets stressful my grades start slipping and I stop caring, well now I'm seeing how big of a problem it is to slip behind even just a little because, I'm in high school now. These blogs have actually showed me how hard it is to get caught up then it is to do your work in the first place so you don't have to worry about it later. I know i really didn't like these blogs but honestly I'm glad we had them. So thank you Mrs.Gilman
  and you really are my favorite teacher I hope I have you for English my junior year ! (because we all know I won't be taking honors)

memorable assignments

writing has always been something i have struggled with, but this year during the finals i thought i worked really hard and did my best to write a really good paper, even though i only got a C i felt that i had done a really good job. This was memorable because it made me work really hard and think.
